Birdwatching in Paradise

Although Tobago is a small island, it has 210 recorded species of birds. As a result, birdwatchers can be assured of a very satisfying experience, particularly when staying at Villa Petrus. Because Villa Petrus is built in the hills of Tobago it is virtually a bird sanctuary in itself and what is more:

The gardens surrounding the Villa have been planted with birds in mind. A special feature is the hummingbirds, which can be seen gathering nectar from the flowers around the pool.

An orchard is being grown on the southern side of the property leading into a valley with its own micro climate; it backs onto an almost vertical hillside of natural forest. The fruits of the orchard trees and the daily feeding of the birds by the gardener bring an abundance of birds to Villa Petrus. Even the beautiful Mot Mot visits the orchard.
